Supported Employment for

A sunny path through a wooded area

Hire quality employees.

When working with MCC, job seekers are expected to be punctual, communicative, and actively engage in services, so they are prepared to be standout employees when hired.

Our Employment Specialists learn about a job seeker's skills, qualifications, support needs, and interests in order to cultivate business partnerships that benefit the employer just as much as the job seeker.

Why hire our job seekers?

A calm large body of water surrounded by trees. The sky is blue and a mountain is visible in the distance.

Then...

"Un-employable"

In the early 1900s, experiencing a disability disqualified individuals from being considered for employment. They were labeled them as "incapable" and "un-employable," a notion that, unfortunately, persists in our society.

Sheltered Workshops

Sheltered workshops exclusively hire people with disabilities. Workers are often paid below minimum wage and work separate from those without disabilities. For these reasons, Sheltered Workshops have decreased in number and popularity over the years.

Now

In CIE, a supported employee works with disabled and non-disabled colleagues and receives the same wage and benefits as their non-disabled counterparts for the same work. CIE is Oregon's preferred approach to supported employment.
