Why hire our job seekers?

Then...
"Un-employable"
In the early 1900s, experiencing a disability disqualified individuals from being considered for employment. They were labeled them as "incapable" and "un-employable," a notion that, unfortunately, persists in our society.
Sheltered Workshops
Sheltered workshops exclusively hire people with disabilities. Workers are often paid below minimum wage and work separate from those without disabilities. For these reasons, Sheltered Workshops have decreased in number and popularity over the years.
Now
In CIE, a supported employee works with disabled and non-disabled colleagues and receives the same wage and benefits as their non-disabled counterparts for the same work. CIE is Oregon's preferred approach to supported employment.
